10 Little-known facts about leprechauns
Which may or may not be true

- In Ireland, wearing green is like wearing camouflage in the US. You think it makes you blend in with the landscape. However, in the world of people, it makes you stand out.
- Leprechauns earn their gold by fixing the shoes of faeries. As faeries spend much of their lives dancing, they wear out shoes quickly, making leprechauns rich.
- They haven’t worn “that hat” since 1850. Today they prefer Panama hats or toques when it is cold.
- On St. Patrick’s day, you are more likely to see a leprechauns as they are pulled toward towns by the smell of corned beef and cabbage cooking. No leprechaun can pass on well-cooked cabbage.
- Green beer is gross. Leprechauns agree. It should be green ale.
- So are green rivers (unless its the river’s natural color). If you want to dye something green, dye a sheep. They are fun to catch and dye.

7. The Carlingford Leprechaun Protection Group successfully petitioned the EU to preserve Carlingford Mountain in Ireland and protect remaining leprechauns that live there.
8. The clurichauns are leprechauns drunk, nocturnal cousins. Sometimes they go outside and ride your animals to the point of exhaustion. Some say they are one and the same, only in day and night forms.
